Lauren studied Holistic Nutrition and Herbal Medicine at Pacific Rim College for 3.5 years, completing her diploma of Phytotherapy (with high honors) in 2016. This is the most comprehensive herbal medicine program in North America. The program consists of 2130 hours of Biomedical Sciences, Western Herbal Sciences, Holistic Nutrition, and 510 hours of hands on Clinical Practice. Lauren also studied the foundations of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurveda (East Indian Medicine), which has provided her with a holistic perspective on the mind, body, and soul, and their connection with health and healing.
Lauren is passionate about empowering individuals to take their health back into their own hands by reconnecting with the self and the environment (through the plants!). She knows herbal medicines can treat a wide range of health concerns.
The main focus of Lauren’s practice is women’s health. This includes, but is not limited to, irregular menses, PMS and painful periods, PCOS, and menopause. Through Lauren’s experience and education, she sees how plant medicines are great at guiding our bodies back into balance. She has seen how they act as hormone regulators while dealing with other contributing factors related to all body systems such as the nervous system and immune system.
Another focus of Lauren’s practice is managing the effects of shift work on the human body. Lauren believes that herbs are great for nourishing and building the nervous system and adrenals while helping with sleep, and digestion. In her practice, she has noted that the use of herbs has allowed shift workers to live a more balanced and vital daily life.
Lauren has been welcomed to collaborate with Wildheart Therapies and Farmacy because of her dedication to herbal medicine and extensive herbal training. She is a complete wealth of knowledge. One of Lauren’s mandates of practice is to practice in such a way that allows for inclusion. She does not believe that natural health is an exclusive medicine and aims to educate the community and those who are interested in simple affordable ways in which they can work with plants to enjoy the benefits of herbal medicine. Lauren will be holding FREE community workshops at the clinic the last Saturday of the month to honor her dedication to accessible health care. We thank her for her offering to the community and support Lauren’s practice.
